Circle of Security

Circle of Security is a relationship-based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children. Through this program, parents learn to better understand and respond to their child's emotional needs, fostering a stronger, more secure bond. The Circle of Security provides a visual map of children's attachment needs, guiding parents on when to provide support and when to encourage independence. By focusing on improving parent-child interactions, this program aims to promote healthy emotional development and resilience in children.

Shark Music

Shark Music is a concept from the Circle of Security program that refers to the uncomfortable feelings parents experience when their child's behavior triggers unresolved issues from their own past. These "shark music" moments can lead to automatic, often negative, responses that hinder effective parenting. By recognizing and understanding their own shark music, parents can better manage their reactions, respond more thoughtfully to their child's needs, and create a more secure and nurturing environment for their child's emotional development.

Empathy

Brené Brown's Empathy Video illustrates the profound difference between empathy and sympathy. Through engaging animation, Brown explains that empathy involves connecting with others by understanding and sharing their feelings, while sympathy tends to create distance and disconnection. She highlights four key elements of empathy: perspective-taking, staying out of judgment, recognizing emotions in others, and communicating that recognition. The video underscores the power of empathy to foster deep, meaningful connections and support others through difficult times.
