Meet Sana (OTA)

Sana Shahzad

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Sana was born in Pakistan and raised in Karachi. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Dow University of Health Sciences in 2012. After moving to Canada in 2022, Sana continued to pursue her passion for occupational therapy and supporting individuals with diverse needs. She completed her postgraduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science at Niagara College in 2026, where she was recognized on the President’s Honour Roll for her academic achievement.

As part of her Canadian education and professional development, Sana completed clinical placement experience at Bethesda, supporting children with developmental and behavioural needs, as well as a school-based placement at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School. These experiences strengthened her skills in supporting participation, independence, communication, emotional regulation, and individualized goals.

Sana is committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care and enjoys helping children build the skills and confidence they need to participate meaningfully in their everyday lives. She values collaboration with children, families, Occupational Therapists, and other members of the care team.

 

Sana has completed additional training and certifications, including:

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention

CPR and First Aid

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)

Worker Health and Safety Awareness

WHMIS

 

Outside of her professional role, Sana enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys and values family and lifelong learning.​​
